My ZALORA Wishlist

My 5 Things To Have to Lose Weight

It’s almost been 4 months since I last hit the gym. I know and I could tell how much weight I have gained already in that span of time. If concrete walls were just like Styrofoam, I would bang my head against it while writing this post just to punish myself for my laziness and the so many lame excuses for not going to the gym.

I hate to say this, but admittedly I am now becoming fat. :( There are nights when I am awakened by my snoring,  I am now catching my breath whenever I take the twenty-steps stairway in our apartment, my arms get easily strained when carrying groceries and I could no longer make a catch-and-run game with my 2-year old son.

All these because I didn’t go to the gym.

But I know I still have that urge; only that it needs a little spark.  That spark can definitely be achieved if this wishlist of mine came true.

  • I want to have a new pair of shoes that I can use by the time I go back to the gym, soon. :)

  • Next to that is shorts that is comfy enough for doing all of the program exercises especially when on the treadmill.

  • And after that comfy shorts, let me have a comfy shirt also that would keep me comfortable even on my heavy sweating moments.  LOL!

  • With those three items mentioned above, I hope and pray that the mission to lose weight will materialize and that I can wear once again, a slim straight denim like this.

  • And can wear a short sleeves polo shirt like this one.  No more bulging tummy by then, let’s say months from now? Yes, months, please don’t ask me a specific number of months to count, let’s just say months from now, okay? :)

So there goes my 5-item wishlist, which I think personally can help push me to go back to the gym and have some sweaty sessions.

If you want to have your own wishlist, especially sa mga kabayan, kabalen, kabaro, ka-utol, ka-toto, sa mga amigo ug amigas diha, try visit ZALORA and have your own wishlist.

Is A.W. Surveys A Scam?

Scam I Think It Is

I was delighted to the fact; I mean they have their own definition of fact, that by just signing up, you will get  a few $ immediately reflected to your account. So I signed up. My wife was my first referral and indeed, another $ amount added to my account.

That time I was like, this must be the passive income that I have been looking for on the internet. It’s not that I am not enjoying the fruits I reaped from my day time job, but it just feels different to do some things during your free time knowing that in a minimal amount, you are having additional income, at least.

But It just made that feeling untrue when few days back, I found out that I can no longer access my account. Reason? There’s none and I don’t know why.

What Is A.W. Surveys?

As the name goes, it is a site built by a certain Aclarn Inc., which conducts survey of products or websites from different companies.

After I signed up, I have finished several surveys of websites, which basically, have the same features of A.W. Surveys. That time, I was till positive and confident about the genuineness of this thing I was doing. By every survey you made to a site, another $ will be added to your account. I set my threshold to $50 before I could transfer funds to my PayPal account.

They say, that you have to visit and log into your account every 45 days to keep your account active. Well, I was logging like, everyday.

After months of everyday logging in and surveying that same sites I did since I started, I checked my account and I saw with my very own eyes, $15 more for me to cash out.

But just last week, I was furious why I can’t access my account. I have done several referrals but were all gone now.

So to me, A.W. Surveys is a scam. Sounds funny? No, it actually sounds scammy and more than that.

Cooking: Pumpkin & String Beans With Minced Beef Sauté

The Delicious Dish With Only 3 Main Ingredients

We are a family of three. Myself, my wife and our 2 year old son. Since I usually arrived home early from work, after picking up our son from his nanny, I would hurriedly prepare our dinner.

With this recipe, delicious dinner can be prepared fast and easy. No separate methods or levels of cooking or whatsoever. This is a sort of straight to the point cooking preparation.

Anyway, this dish is best eaten in any meal time. May it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. :)

Before, I used to have it  half cooked. I want to eat the beans and pumpkins in a crispy like chewing. But since we have a toddler, this time, this should be “well done”.

Delicious Dish With Only 3 Main Ingredients

Now, let's do the cooking once again. Pumpkin cubed, String Beans - both ends removed & chopped, garlic and onion sliced.

Ingredients

1/4 kg Pumpkin
1 stalk String Beans
35 gms Minced Beef
Garlic
Onion
Salt
Soy Sauce
Cooking Oil
Black Pepper
Seasoning

Steps

1. Preheat the skillet, put oil
2. Saute garlic and onion
3. Put on the minced beef, add salt and soy sauce, stir until cooked (in brownish color)
4. Add the cubed pumpkin and cover the skillet until it’s halfway cooked
5. Add the chopped string beans, add little pepper and cover the skillet again for 5 mins.
6. And serve…

Yummy pumpkin and string beans

Enjoy your meal.

To my fellow Filipinos who are living abroad, I hope you find this post helpful and especially to the non-Filipinos out there who wants to try the Filipino way.

I would love to hear your comments, suggestions, or additional steps or ingredients to make it a more delicious dish.

Cheers! :)

Jebel Hafeet And Al Ain Zoo Revisited

Summer Getaway

I didn’t hesitate saying “yes” to the invitation I received last Thursday night from a friend through phone, about going to Al Ain Zoo and Jebel Hafeet.  I have once visited the said places 4 years back, with my then fiancee now my wife.  Instantly the feeling of excitement which I have experienced before, resurrected. :)

At 9 in the clear and sunny Friday morning, we are hitting the Dubai – Al Ain Road.  We reached Al Ain after an hour of driving and went straight to Jebel Hafeet.

Slowly, we  headed towards the top of Jebel Hafeet in this picture.

Feels like you're in the Grand Canyon in the U.S. with this view, left and right.

Such a rocky mountain high

One of Jebel Hafeet's few establishments.

View at Jebel Hafeet's first stop.

Al Ain Zoo

After having a sumptuous lunch brought and prepared by the Bernaldez and Vicentes, we were able to cool ourselves down with the cool fresh air at the mountaintop despite the summer heat.  Our kiddos enjoyed some of the rides in placed and had some snaps.

After spending enough rest time, we head back down on the way to Al Ain Zoo – the biggest in the UAE.

White Tiger, one of Al Ain Zoo's popular animals. This large photo of the white tiger was posted right at the main entrance. (Trisha, Thea & Yuri)

These Ibexes were enjoying the shade.

The big and the lone cacti.

One of the added features in Al Ain Zoo, the reptile enclosures.

If you have noticed, I have posted only few animals since they were unfortunately “uncooperative” that time. :) Finding the right angle to take a snap was just difficult.  Some of the animals were resting or hiding in their enclosures.  But we enjoyed seeing most of them.

I have made a slideshow instead of posting them all here to save time and space.

Note: I don’t know what happened to my slideshow that was originally posted here. I’ll just leave you this link then. :(

Cooking: Tinolang Isda – Fish Stew

7 Ingredients To A Delicious Tinolang Isda [Simplified]

1 kg – King Fish (Tangigue)
1 bundle – Water Spinach (Kang kong)
1 piece – Tomato
2 stalks – Spring Onions (Sibuyas Dahon)
Thumb sized Ginger
Salt (to taste)
Seasoning (optional)

This Filipino dish is so popular in the southern part of the country especially in the coastal areas. A very good appetizer on every meal but often times eaten as an entrée or a stand alone dish best taken during lunch time.

Philippines being an archipelago, fish supply is abundant. Fresh king fishes, groupers, tunas and any other kinds are available and can be bought in any wet market.

Cooked without oil, I consider Tinolang Isda as one of the most healthiest foods I could think of. :) If you want to have a break and at least do away eating meat, fatty and other cholesterol loaded dishes for some time, then try this one now.

How I Did It

Ready the sliced king fish, tomato, onion and kangkong

Put the fish to the boiling water, wait until it is halfway cooked, put on the sliced ginger, tomato and onion

Put salt, you may add a seasoning or you may not. I don't usually use this also, I just want to get that right taste this time. :)

Add the kang kong, cover it for 3 - 5 minutes and then chow time! :)

There goes my simplified, iron rich Tinolang Isda for everybody. To make your meal more satisfying, you can have this along with grilled fish (sinugba/inihaw na isda) and with the Filipino style Sashimi which is basically called ceviche (kinilaw). These three recipes are also fondly called, Su-To-Kil. Word play for the Cebuano words; sugba (grill), tola (stew) and kilaw/kinilaw (ceviche).

Any suggestions to make this recipe more tasteful or share your way of making Tinolang Isda is much appreciated.

Cheers!
