Our Baby’s UAE Residence Visa
Finally, we got hold of the most awaited UAE residence visa for my 2-year-old baby boy who is still in the Philippines while writing this blog.
It isn’t easy, I should say, processing for the visa. But If I will have to compare it with applying visas to the United States and other countries, based on experience and friends’, here is amazingly fast.
The other night, we already started the processing; we had it “typed” from a typing center near our house here in Al Dhiyafa, Dubai. It is an online application actually. The typing center were like the first screening body in this whole process; you will need to provide them with all the requirements i.e. original passport, labour contract, photos etc. Then
they’ll hand you the printed application form and instruct you to go to the different UAE government agencies. Take note; “agencies”, meaning hopping from one office to another. 🙂
Fortunately I have friends who just recently applied for the same visa for their kids too, so I have got several tips prior to my application, and aside from that, I have also done it myself years back, when applying for my wife’s residence visa, which is quite similar if not the same as my son’s visa.
As early as 6 in the morning, I and my wife were already awake. After doing some equally important things in the Philippine Consulate, we then proceeded to the Dubai Ministry of Labour where we had my labour contract updated within just like a few minutes.
After which, we went to Dubai’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and had my baby’s birth certificate stamped and attested for a minimal fee.
Never wasted a single minute, we went to the last stop, Dubai’s Ministry of Interior. After all the papers were screened, the local lady immigration officer, handed us the final and the most important print-out, the Residence Visa of my son. But before doing so, the lady immigration officer, complimented on our baby’s pic saying: “he’s so cute!” as if wanting to pinch our baby on the pic.
All the paper works were done at exactly 12 noon of December 27, 2011.
Hopefully early next year, we can bring him here with us.
Joy and happiness were so obvious from me and wife’s faces. Thanks to UAE’s fast and dependable services and thanks be to God!
