Easter Eggs
Once again, my favourite yearly church activity during my childhood, the egg hunting is here, come Sunday, April 8. I am in between two emotions right now while looking back those wonderful years. It is kind of sad yet happy at the same time.
Why Sad
I know that day after tomorrow, Saturday, loved ones back home and church members will be very busy preparing the Easter eggs for the hunting on Easter morning. I used to be among those egg painters back then. And before midnight, I would then hit the sack, excited for the next day’s activity, while the assigned church elders were still up finding difficult corners at the church compound to hide the eggs.
“3, 4, 5 or at least 8 eggs I should be getting”, this comes to mind before going to sleep. 🙂 Then the awaited event! There was a year that I took home 8 eggs. It was really cool. Though they say that egg hunting are for kids, not in our church, but still it was always fair hunting. 🙂
Why Happy
We are miles away from our loved ones back home, myself, my wife and our son can still celebrate Easter. We can even have our own way of egg hunting. Happy that even we are here in a Muslim country right now, we are not barred to practice such important Christian celebration.
I now have something in mind how to at least, share to our son what Easter eggs are for and what Easter is all about. That would be my next post. 🙂
Advance Happy Easter everyone!
