Picnik No More?
Picnik.com Is Over, Google+ Is Now Getting Bigger
And they’ve finally ended. As an avid Picnik.com user, this development somehow affects the way I do photo editing. Cross Process is one of my favorite effects on Picnik followed by Vignette and Collage. By just clicking the bookmarked link of this photo editing tool, I could do whatever I want with my photo. But now, I have to access Google+ first before going to Picnik.
This acquisition of Google is indeed a strategic one. This will enhance its Google+ social network which I think, was not able to make a bang with its aim to have a head to head competition with Facebook. And because Picnik will be installed on Google+, all the Picnik loyalists like me, would then visit Google+ as often now. There will be thousands if not millions of Picnik loyalists that will do an exodus-like movement to Google+ and will help increase the traffic and its members.
I have activated my Google+ account since I already have my Gmail account way way back. But I am not a Google+ frequenter. Now, with Picnik, surely it’ll be changed, to Google’s advantage. 🙂
The above image is the only thing you can see right now if you visit the site. You can read the parting words from Picnik along with the suggestions on other photo editing alternatives aside from going to Google+. They’ve mentioned PicMonkey.com. It still has limited features, effects etc but the way I look at it, a year from now, another company will be buying it. Google acquired Picnik last 2010, Facebook recently acquired Instagram then probably BlackBerry will acquire PicMonkey.com. LOL!
From now on, let us have our Picnik at Google+. 🙂
