Where To Go In Dubai: Sofa Boat Ride At Dubai Festival City

Self Service Sofa Boat Ride

If you’re looking for some place to go in Dubai, visit or revisit Dubai Festival City (one of Dubai’s big malls). The last time my wife and I visited DFC, we saw these abras crossing back and forth on its artificially made Venice-like canal. But now, they have these white, motorized sofa boats made of hard plastic (or was it fiberglass), which has the capacity of four passengers. It has a joystick-like part which is used for maneuvering.

Our son was quick enough to give us a big nod when asked if he wants us to try and ride the sofa boat. We enjoyed the self service ride which only costs us Dhs 50/- for 15 minutes. We had a little problem though in the middle of it, when our son wanted to drive the boat by himself. We only had him hold the maneuver instead, to avoid “war” 🙂 and to avoid bumping and disturbing other boat riders. 🙂 Talking about the speed, it was actually on its slowest speed but okay enough to make some little water splashing ride.

Then we docked, had our dinner at the food court and off to home. 🙂
