Would You Address Your Children King And Queen?
Prince And Princess?
My friend insisted that I should address my son and our soon-to-be-born daughter, Prince and Princess. This was after I posted this: “And we will be having a Queen soon! Wootwoot!” on my FB wall.
I would understand because we normally address our children prince and princess if it’s a pair of boy and girl and we parents are the queen and king. But I was like, hell yeah, why not address our children as King And Queen?! 🙂
The Naughty King
Here’s how it started. While the Arab lady OB-Gynae performed an ultrasound, we were at first so quiet until the Doctor asked our son about what he thinks of the gender of the baby. Our soon to be “kuya” Yuri answered whispering, “it’s a boy”. The Doctor even asked if it’s okay with him if she’ll bring the baby with her which he childishly nodded and agreed to the Doctor’s offer. LOL!
The doc said, “you are naughty, but you don’t have to worry, your crown as a king is still yours, coz the baby is a queen“. (My wife and I were like, yey!) So that’s how the king and queen thing all started.
Realistically though, if we really have to think it over, what we parents are doing to our children, pampering them, taking good care of them, we do almost everything they say because they are everything to us, we are already treating them like king and queen.
And with this, do you think addressing and treating our sons and daughters like kings and queens are just right? 🙂
Below is a short clip I took using my smartphone during the ultrasound. My left hand’s holding it while my right arm’s carrying our 3-year old son.
