Simple Way To Verify Pinterest On WordPress.org
Verify Your Site Using Pinterest Meta Tag
If you are receiving error or 404 message after verifying your site through upload method, try the below steps and hopefully it will work on your end as well. Verifying my site on WordPress.org was easy as 1-2-3 using Pinterest Meta Tag.
Steps:
1. Login to your Pinterest account
2. On your profile, click on the pencil in the bottom-right corner of the ย box
ย 3. Enter your website and then click Verify Website
4. Click the verify with a meta tag
5. New window will pop up, copy the whole meta tag and go to your dashboard, click a) appearance, b) editor, c) header on the right hand side, d) paste the whole meta tag under <head> and e) update file.
6. Go back to Pinterest and click Verify Domain Link. A verification check mark should appear now next to your site.
Please do tell us on whatever the outcome of your site verification on Pinterest through meta tag using the above steps.
Cheers!

This Pinterest tip works for us.
Hi there.
I see a lot of people had success using this method so I thought you might be able to help me with a quick question.
I have tried this a few times but I am getting the error message from Pinterest: Trouble verifying your domain. Please try again later.
Someone set up the theme for me but it looks Appearance > Themes, the TEST theme he set up is ACTIVE. The parent theme is SERENE. Under Test, there is no ‘header’ on the right side, but there is in Serene. I tried copying and pasting the meta tag where you said, but its not working. Do you think I’m pasting the meta tag in the wrong section. Help! Thanks.
Hi jenny, maybe because you went to themes. Under appearance, you should see “Editor”, from there you should see “Header” and so on. ๐
I agree with everyone – quick and easy Pinterest verification process. Thanks for walking me through it!
Thanks – this was awesome, and took me just a few minutes!!!
I followed your steps exactly, also deactivated a cache plug in, but my site will still not verify successfully. Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you.
Elaine

Thank You!!!!!!!!!! I couldn’t get this to work with everyone else’s directions so thank you for instructions that worked!
If you have a child theme underneath your regular theme (genesis), is it safe to insert the verification code into your Genesis theme?
Thank you soooooo much! This was so incredibly helpful and worked perfectly!
Thank you so much! I wish Pinterest would provide these easy instructions.
What a great tutorial. Thanks for this! I tried so many times to verify on Pinterest before I found you, that now I have to wait to verify. Tried to many dang times. LOL
Thank you, thank you , thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!
This is a great tutorial, very clear. Made me very happy to find such clear instructions, but somehow it is not working for me. I do everything exactly what you said, went to editor, found header, copied the meta tag under updated, went to pinterest and it is still having problems verifying my website. Any ideas?
I’m having the same problem. I followed the instructions, step by step and it still says “Trouble verifying your domain. Please try again later.”
After fighting with this on and off for I don’t even know how long, this finally worked. Thank you SO SO MUCH!
Thanks! Award for… Most Awesome and Easy to Follow Pinterest Instructions!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I was simplying missing a step.
Thank you for this!
Thanks for the great advice. It really did worked.
It didn’t work, it says the header is a .php file and not .html, does this make a huge difference?
I don’t think Richard. You can put .html to a .php but not other way around. ๐
Request to you to give it a try once more, if it still won’t work, you may try check it from here too. http://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/pinterest-verify-meta-tag

Thank you for your help with verifying my website on Pinterest using Meta Tags ~ very much appreciated
Thank you so much for the step-by-step! I’ve tried so many times to verify now that Pinterest is telling me I have to try again later. I’m going to bookmark this page so that I can come back later & tell you if it works for me!
Thank you so much! Fast, easy and worked like a charm! Cheers!
Hi
I’ve tried doing this verification a million times with different examples that I read about. I’m on wordpress.org and my parent theme is Genesis and then I’ve got a child theme. The header.php was on the Genesis and I’ve added the meta tag just below the and updated file just like you said but it still does not work. Just OOps…
Can you help me please because now I do not know what I am doing wrong.
Thanks a lot
Sofia
Sorry to hear that Sofia. Not as techie as I am, I suggest you to check this as well http://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/pinterest-verify-meta-tag

I ruined my website trying this and now I have no idea how to fix it!!
it’s simple, it works…I love you
God bless you for this!
Thank you very much. So relieved to have this finally set up.
Thank you so much! This was very simple and easy!
Thank you very helpful.
THANK YOU!
Thanks so much! It worked. ๐
Greate pieces. Keep writing such kind of information on your
page. Im really impressed by it.
Hey there, You’ve performed an incredible job. I’ll certainly
digg it and in my view recommend to my friends. I’m confident they’ll be benefited from this web site.
It seems your help was useful, but not complete. Our site is a multisite, which seems to have its own issues. In multisite, it doesn’t have the webmaster tools there. But, your graphics helped since it showed which file needed the metatag added. By using Notepad++, I searched for header.php and added it manually. Thanks for pointing the way.
Thank you, finally this worked!
Thank you! I really appreciate this helpful tutorial. I was finally able to confirm my website.
I pasted the meta tag just under the section of the header.php file in editor, as you told, then I tried several times to verify to no avail; then I went to my site, copied my site’s URL directly from the browser, pasted it to the Pinterest profile dashboard, saved the profile again, and the went to the dashboard and pressed ‘verify’ button again. And it worked!!! Thank you so much!
