Is It Okay To Laugh After Typhoon Haiyan’s Wrath?
Laughter Still Is The Best Medicine
Just minutes after watching the news from Philippines’ TV news channels to international news channels like BBC, CNN and Al Jazeera; I received a BBM message from a never-met BBM friend. It was actually an old joke, that made me laughing so hard, apparently made me forget at least in a bit, all those negativities I have heard from the news about the Philippine Government’s handling of the rescue, search and relief operations in Tacloban City which was recently ravaged by super typhoon Haiyan.
The joke has nothing to do with typhoon Haiyan though, but thankful in a way, despite the heartbreaking catastrophe my compatriots are facing now, some people are there too to somewhat remind you that all these are just passing and so we should continue living. And the best way to start it, is by laughing.
As what the famous Filipino singer-songwriter Freddie Aguilar said in one of his legendary songs, “tawanan mo ang iyong problema”, (Just laugh at your problems), why not join me laughing with this joke below.
3 drunk guys took a taxi. The taxi driver knew that they’re drunk, so he started the engine & turned it off again. He told them “we have reached the destination.”
The 1st guy gave him money & 2nd guy said “thank you”.
The 3rd guy gave the driver a slap. The driver was shocked, thinking the 3rd guy knew what he did. But he asked “what’s that for?”. the 3rd guy replied, “CONTROL YOUR SPEED NEXT TIME. YOU ALMOST KILLED US!
