February is a month of celebration for me and for my family. From my baby girl’s birthday who is now 2, to my nephew, to my cousin, to my cousin’s husband, to my mother-in-law, to my mother, and lastly to my wife Celeste. All these happened in different days within the first and third week of the month. Now, aside from those I’ve mentioned, last Thursday February 19th, was also the Chinese New Year. Quite a month, a’right?!
Fortunately, my wife and I got the time and opportunity to be in this perfect place to somewhat give all those celebrations a final bang. We dined at this lovely place called Kris With A View. A fine dining restaurant of Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai at the 19th floor of the building, which gives its visitors a utopian view of the city.
The restaurant was already half-full when we arrived around 7 pm. But with the reservation, we still got one of the best tables inside. Once seated, we then right away made our orders from their new set of menu. A glass of bubbly and a red, were right on time to signal our hungry bread basket that delicious food is coming. Looking at their Pan Asian Menu with region’s greatest culinary traditions including Thailand, China, Malaysia, Japan, India and Arabia; the options are splendid.
To begin…
My wife had the Classic Southeast Asian Soup, the Malaysian Seafood Laksa which comes with rich coconut milk seasoned with the right amount of spices.
I had the Tamatar Shorba. An Indian tomato soup with whole garam masala, fresh coriander, coriander seeds, garam flour among others.

After finishing our hearty soups, I took the time of snapping some photos from the corners of the restaurant. Ideal for couple like us. But Kris With A View is also perfect for business occasion or a get together with friends. Its roomy atmosphere with the rightly dimmed lights, create a soothing feeling while dining. A setting that adds more beauty not just to the restaurant but also to the panoramic view of Dubai at night.

It is always great to give new tastes a try that is not to compromise and that will satisfy our cravings. For our mains. My wife had the Daging Bakar Utara. It’s a grilled marinated tenderloin with Malaysian herbs served with tamarind sauce. With the tamarind sauce alone, one would ponder to the bizarre combination! And not just that, it was served with a cupful of sticky coconut rice. But my wife gave a satisfied-grin.
I had the Mei Ji Xian Zheng Gei Lu Yu. A steamed Chinese style seabass with super soya sauce (ginger, spring onions, red chili). T’was my first Chinese style seabass. Impeccably prepared and cooked with the right zingy flavour and was perfectly paired with steamed rice.
On the side…
We had the Chinese wok-fried bok choy, kai lan, snow peas shoot. Its crunchy yet tender bites complemented each of our mains.

To complete…
We finished our dinner with a delicious dessert suggested to us by our server Suman, Kuih Dadar Manga. A mango crepe which my wife and I recommend not to miss, on your visit soon. The sweet palm syrup which was glazed on top of the rolled crepe blends well with the crunchy grated young coconut filling and with the ripe mango.
Then the clock struck 9 and we had to call it a day. We went home with those delectable tastes in our palates.
Overall dining experience was superb. From the atmosphere to the view, the superb staff even up to the Restaurant Manager, to the food with their new set of menu; enough reasons to give Kris With A View a whopping 9.5 out 10.
