Timeless Sting At Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival 2015
Sting At 63 And Still At It
Now I realized that coming to Dubai will not only help fulfill your dreams but also it will give you the opportunity to live your dreams. This is after my wife and I got to watch the multi-talented and the 16 times Grammy award winner Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner or simply known as Sting during the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival 2015.
Being there at the Dubai Media City Amphitheater with the love of your life and listening to those songs performed live by the actual person behind all of those you’ve been listening to since childhood, from a small and fragile family Sony cassette player; is just so goddamn awesome! Very nostalgic! I really felt how drugged I was last night by his music. I was reminded of how crazy I was back then that I’d bring the volume racker at full blast every time I hear his songs on the radio. May it be his solo or The Police versions.
The Englishman’s great musicality remains the same for the past decades that my wife rightfully described him as TIMELESS!
The night was a bit cold and windy but singing along with Sting and with the rest of the thousands in attendance turned the night into a memorable one.
From the moment he stepped out on that stage, everybody including me, were like belting out any line of each and every song we could remember. Walking On The Moon, If I Ever Lose My Faith In You, Fields Of Gold, Englishman In New York, Desert Rose, Shape Of My Heart, the all-time favorite Every Breath You Take, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, among other greatest hits of his.
But there was this lady behind us, in her 50’s whom I reckon is a bloody solid fan because she knows and sings along with all the songs of Sting effortlessly. Good for her.
Below are just some video clips I got using my poor and light-deprived smartphone. 🙁 Apologies for my barking in betweens too. LOL!
As entertained as we were, one person also that made our night memorable was Sting’s back up vocal, and that is Jo Lawry. Haven’t met her nor have known her in Social Media but I’ve seen her from my elder brother’s pics during their ’96 World Vision Youth Ambassadors Tour. Wow, I’d say, I am now a fan of her not just because she’s now a back-up vocals of Sting but because of her as a well-established Jazz Musician.
Round up
The whole second night of the 3-day Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival 2015 was a success which was opened by the one-of-a-kind performance of American Dancer-Violinist Lindsay Stirling.
Thanks to Chill Out Productions for creating and organizing this event. It was our first but looking forward to the festival in the next years ahead.
Past 12 midnight, we headed home with great smiles on our faces and an LSS of Sting’s encore song Fragile.
