Review: A Not To Miss Friday Brunch At Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments
The Humungous Fountain Restaurant, Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments
Remember that scene in that multi-awarded Hollywood musical film Sound of Music, where Maria first enters the Von Trapp family mansion? In case you haven’t watched it yet, it is never too late to grab a copy of it from any of your favorite movie store in UAE and watch it with your family. It sure is still a great movie to date.
That scene was actually similar when entering Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments in Oud Metha, Bur Dubai for the Friday Brunch entitled The Art Of Brunch. Fancy, lovely and classic.
Arrived fashionably late for our 12-noon reservation at the Fountain Restaurant, which is located right at the entrance of the hotel. But we were still ahead of the throng of families and guests who arrived minutes later. It was almost already full house when we started to feel the pangs of hunger.
With the carefully and dramatically arranged food sections, it was easier for us to find the course we wanted to dig in first. It’s an international buffet and so the selections of food are amazing.
But before digging in, though I already have in mind which section got my interest; my wife and myself made our kids comfy first in the exclusive children’s section. With their own food, kids tables, wide screen, inflatable playground, sets of PS4s among others. This ensures perfect dining experience for families with kiddos. The downside, though, is the area was a bit far for us to check on them.
Then we chomped in.
I started my meal with a hearty Tomato Soup, while my wife started with Quinoa Salad. Then I was kind of lost track in what we chomped. But I could not forget how tender perfectly cooked the Roasted Spare Ribs are and so the Duck Confit and Foie Gras. The Vegan Paella was just a perfect pair for my meat.
The staff were so attentive and courteous, from assigning us onto our seats to giving our welcome sparkling bubbly, to the suggestions of the best white and red wine and all. Including the suggestion of trying their Fresh From The Kitchen menu, where my wife asked an Eggs Benedict and thankful to the order taker as it tasted delicious.
Eating at a buffet has to be some sort of systematic. You don’t go there because you just wanted to explode your breadbasket but to fulfill and satisfy your palate. And fortunately, with the wide selections of food at Fountain Restaurant’s Friday Brunch in Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments in Oud Metha, Bur Dubai, I managed to get it done, right. 🙂
The Sushi and The Desserts? What can I say…
I have eaten the courses that I’ve craved for and so have my wife on her choices. Especially those favorites of mine; the Fresh Oysters, Prosciutto, Duck Confit and Foie Gras. The food was like all over the lobby. Then what made it more appetizing, is the live soothing music from the grand piano at the staircase.
If only we had more time, we could’ve stayed a little longer. But there’s still a lot of Fridays to come. And I might be seeing you there soon.
Verdict:
With the AED 195 per person including soft drinks or AED 295 per person including house beverage, which comes with scrumptious food, courteous and super attentive staff, and with awesome huge place especially a soothing live music; going there every Friday wouldn’t be a bad thing. Unless you’re on a strict diet routine.
With all these, giving the Friday Brunch at Fountain Restaurant in Mövenpick Hotel & Apartments, Oud Metha Bur Dubai a 9 out of 10, is just fair enough.
